Meet Miriam
In my late teenage years, I was introduced to collecting dolls and I continued to collect them until the late 1990s/early 2000 decade. I quit buying dolls when the market fell. I also quit collecting anything at that point.
In 2004, I was reading a weekly antique newspaper and I saw an ad for an 8-week antiques class run by an auctioneer in Reading, PA. Each week my sister (whom I convinced to go with me) and I took something along to be appraised. It was a lot of fun and I learned a lot by going there. After the course was finished, I wanted to get into buying and selling but I did not know exactly what that might be. I have always been kind of a restless person, always wanting to do more and always needing a challenge in my life. It probably had something to do with my upbringing where my parents were always creative and doing something different.
One day I was browsing through an antique mall looking for something that I might enjoy selling. I remember seeing a Fenton cranberry coin dot vase and looking at the price of it. I went home and looked it up online and thought that maybe I can buy that same thing online for about half the price and sell it in an antique mall.
That was the beginning. My intent was just to buy and sell but somewhere along the way, I fell in love with Fenton glass and began collecting it. I have expanded into other categories as well. In 2011, I became a Mosser Glass dealer. I also sell Jack Pine glass (made in OH) and Stiegel Glassworks glass (made in PA). I am currently working on establishing relationships with other glassmakers. Today, I have quite a collection of Fenton glass and many other types of art glass. I have not limited myself just to Fenton as I have interest in any type of art glass.
